Sense Writing I: Your Way In w/ Madelyn Kent

For the first time, principles of Somatic Education are being integrated into the art of writing. Whether you’re a beginner or a longtime writer struggling with a creative block, Sense Writing is your way in.

In a supportive environment that integrates accessible physical and writing sequences, you will learn to calm your nervous system, find lightness in your body, and mine your imagination, all while connecting to the core of your craft. Sense Writing frees you from the thoughts you think you “should” be thinking so you learn to create without anxiety.

Learn to:

• Work with the nervous system to interrupt body and language patterns that inhibit writing
• Find pleasure in all the stages of writing
• Complete two pieces of non-fiction or fiction

Sense Writing I is the first step into an approach designed to spark your curiosity about your own creative process. It has been taught at leading conservatories, universities, and retreat centers, including New York University/Tisch School of the Arts, Kripalu Yoga retreat, and New York's Open Center.
